TIM Alumni...
Welcome to the Training in Mission Alumni area
Training in Mission is an experience that can be hard to describe. It opens up many new cultures and ideas. It challenges and stretches people in their minds, spirits and hearts. Many former TIM students have told us that TIM was the start of a new direction in their journey of faith. Some have gone on to full time ministry while others have taken the testing route of applying their mission training in the secular workplace. No matter where they have found themselves, many have told us that their TIM experience continues to shape their thinking and actions.
Over the last 25 years since the first 'Gang of Ten' came together in 1981 more than 260 young people have risen to the challenge of TIM - and you are one of this very special group. The TIM alumni network and newsletter has been formed to give you an opportunity to build on your TIM experience; to continue to ask the challenging questions about faith, mission and community and to learn from others from around the world.
Elizabeth Simpson from the TIM group of 2005 starts us off with some reflections on ethical living and consumer culture. Do our personal shopping habits match our cries for international economic justice? Is consumerism only a problem of 'the west'? How can we bring hope to soulless shopping malls and those living with poverty?
I hope you will join the conversation and share your thoughts.
